The rules in brief
- Northwest Territories has no limit on how much rent can go up.
- Rent can go up once every 12 months, with at least 3 months' written notice.
- A tenant on a monthly tenancy gives 30 days' notice, ending on the last day of a rental period.
- A security deposit can be at most one month's rent: half up front and half within three months.
