The rules in brief
- Saskatchewan has no limit on how much rent can go up.
- Rent can go up once every 12 months, with at least 12 months' written notice (Notice of Rent Increase (from the ORT portal)).
- A tenant on a monthly tenancy gives 1 month' notice, ending on the last day of a rental period.
- A security deposit can be at most one month's rent. The landlord can ask for at most half at signing, with the rest within two months of moving in.
