Saskatchewan deposits
Saskatchewan security deposit rules.
The rules
- A security deposit can be at most one month's rent. The landlord can ask for at most half at signing, with the rest within two months of moving in.
- Interest is owed only on tenancies longer than five years. For anything shorter, the rate is 0%.
- The landlord must return the deposit with any interest within seven business days of knowing the tenant has moved out, or claim part of it on the approved form.
- A tenant can dispute a claim within 60 days of the tenancy ending ($50 fee).
